Study on the Characteristics of Six Recommendable Grape Varieties Introduced in Korea

Abstract
This study was carried out to select the superior varieties of grape through the investigation on adaptability of the new introduced varieties which have been grown in the commercial vineyards.
The varieties selected through this experiment are Ohira-dela., Super Hamburg, Tanored, Himrod Seedless, S-9110, and S.V. 20-365. The characteristics of the selected varieties are summarized as follow:
1) Ohira-dela. (Taepyong-dela)was a beautiful red grape that resembled its parent, the Delaware, in fruit quality and disease resistance. It was very productive since the cluster was 3 times larger than Delaware in size. However, this variety had a defect of cracking on the berry skin.
2) Super Hamburg was a very beautiful grape with good quality, strong disease resistance and prospective marketing due to 10 days later harvesting than Campbell Early, the leading variety in Korea, but tree was not vigorous.
3) Tano-red gave good quality, high yielding and good marketing due to 10 to 20 days later harvesting season than Campbell Early, but slight weakness to Anthracnose.
4) Himrod Seedless was a delicious grape with good quality. The cluster was large but rather loose, berry was medium, oval, and sweet. This variety can be easily cultivated in the climate condition of Korea, but it¢¥s yield was low.
5) S. 9110 was of good quality and high yielding, but showed heavy berry dropping, and this variety becomes seedless by Gibberellin treatment.
6) S.V. 20-365 was a beautiful grape with good quality and strong disease resistance, but the defect of this variety was low yield and berry dropping after harvest
